Bio
Danica Pogue graduated at the top of her class from University of Oregon where she completed her B.A. in English literature with a minor in Comparative Literature. She continued her studies at University of Oregon and earned an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Teaching. Ms. Pogue considers herself a lifelong learner and continues to take courses related to her field. She has worked in urban schools in New York and Oakland, teaching English and Social Science courses with embedded support for English learners. She joined ArTES in 2016, and is thrilled be a member of ArTES because she values the ambitious thinking about arts integration and opportunities for cross-disciplinary projects and essays. She currently teaches Geography, English Language Development, and 9th grade College Preparatory Seminar at ArTES. Ms. Pogue’s classes tend toward a project-based learning model which steps beyond the walls of the classroom to solve real-world issues. She is a firm believer in collaborative learning as she feels it best prepares students to be active members of their communities. The practices of restorative justice and respect for all are central to her identity as an educator.
