Bio
John Ong earned his B.Sc. degree from the University of California at Davis and his Ph.D. degree from the University of Montana. He is a set designer based out of West Los Angeles and has worked as a technical director and set designer for community theaters and performing arts schools in the Southern California area. In addition to working on over 75 stage productions, John has also taught stagecraft and trained students in technical theatre. In recent years, he has been recognized for his set design work from National Youth Arts Theatre Association, International Youth Theatre Association and Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards Committee. As technical director and stage technology teacher at Cesar Chavez Learning Academies/ArTES Magnet High School, his teaching approach of striving for professionalism provides students with real-world experiences in technical theater. His teaching approach of providing students with professional level training and real-world experiences in stage technology will prepare them to successfully achieve their career goals.
