DANCE
Beginning dance introduces the basic style and technique of Jazz, Modern, Ballet and students are introduced to ethnic dances styles from around the world. Students learn dance routines and choreograph their own dances in collaboration with their peers.
Intermediate dance focuses on the styles, techniques, vocabulary, and history of Jazz, Ballet, Modern dance and further explore different ethnic dances from around the world. Students develop body awareness, space awareness, and gain an understanding of music with relation to time, space, and energy. Students will progress in their dance composition/technique skills and choreograph their own dances to audition for the Spring Dance Concert.
Dance company class is for the artist who chooses to focus on dance. Auditions are held in the Spring for the next season. Dance Company is performance based and focuses on intensive dance training in: Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Partnering, and Hip Hop. Fall performances include: dance events on/off campus, football games, pep rallies, preparing for dance competitions and concert works, and other school functions. Spring focus is on Dance Concert, Dance Competitions, Dance Festivals, and special invitational guest appearances.

The Dance department at ArTES is a great place to help you find your path. You are going to experience a lot of different styles and techniques and you will be able to find out what you personally connect with. The dance department is diverse in genres and it’s intriguing to see what you like and don’t like. Sometimes you’ll be surprised to find that what you thought you hated you actually love!
