Bio

Chris Tran graduated from UCLA in 2008 with a Bachelor’s degree in History and a minor in Southeast Asian Studies. He began working with young people while at UCLA as a coordinator for a high school outreach program, providing peer counseling and workshops to high school students in disadvantaged communities. He also had the opportunity to study abroad in Vietnam and Singapore, where he studied Asian history and culture. After graduating, he taught English for four years in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. While there, he learned to appreciate the challenges English learners face and developed a passion for helping them build confidence in their English language ability. He returned to California in 2015 and got his teaching credential at CSUN to teach Social Studies. He completed his student teaching at ArTES and got the wonderful opportunity to return as a teacher in 2018. He currently teaches 12th grade Civics, Economics, and AP Government. Mr. Tran believes in a holistic approach to education, in which students develop not only academic ability, but also a sense of personal empowerment. He sees education as a tool to help students be the best versions of themselves and become agents of change in their community and beyond.
